Yin Spell Builds — Reap and Rush

Yin Spell build archetypes for Reap and Rush: cooldown loops, pierce volleys, element resonance, and upgrade priority.

Last updated:

Yin Spells are your active abilities — ghostly techniques fired with mouse aim and cooldown management. In Reap and Rush, spells inherit element tags from Fate Stones and Envoy passives, so a Fire primary behaves differently under Metal pierce support. This guide covers archetypes, upgrade pick order, and pairing with Paper Crafts for Early Access biome three pushes.

Slot layout

Primary — mouse button, spammable. Secondary Q/R — unlock mid-run via level choices. Upgrades appear on Soul level bars; you cannot take every upgrade in one run — plan branches in Build Planner. Item descriptions: Yin Spells Items. Power ranks: Yin Spell Tier List.

Archetype: cooldown machine

Stack cooldown reduction on primary, add one secondary for elite burst. Fate Stones with Ink or Seal keywords accelerate loops. Weak to boss invuln phases — carry freeze crafts from Paper Craft Builds. Learn spacing in Combat Basics.

Archetype: pierce sniper

Metal-tagged primary with projectile count upgrades. Deletes elites, demands aim skill. Boss phases reward this if stagger windows exist — How to Beat Bosses. Pair Metal stones from Fate Stone Builds.

Archetype: area resonance

Earth or Fire spread secondaries once Resonance online — see Five Elements Builds. Lower single-target, excels in trash duty waves during Underworld Duties.

Upgrade priority rules

Early: cooldown or count before raw damage. Mid: element tag alignment for resonance. Late: boss-specific — stagger damage, armor break synergy. Never take three conflicting tags without planner math.

Envoy pairings

Match spell tags to envoy bias without hard-locking — pivot stones if shop offers better tags. Envoy Tier List lists starters by element. Companions that reduce secondary cooldowns: Companion Tier List.

Spell math without spreadsheets

Cooldown reduction stacks multiplicatively with envoy passives — two 15% sources do not equal 30% flat. Projectile count upgrades multiply best with pierce tags from Metal resonance. Area upgrades multiply best with slow fields from Water. When unsure, pick the upgrade that increases uptime before spike damage; uptime wins Early Access biomes with dense Yaoguai trash.

Biome-specific spell tuning

Biome one rewards wide arcs. Biome two elites resist Wood DoT unless you add pierce support from stones. Biome three boss armor phases punish single-tag builds — verify element counters in How to Beat Bosses before locking spells at run start. Shrine rerolls are rare; treat them as rescue tools, not build foundations.

Spell + craft pairing checklist

Before biome two boss: primary uptime online, one secondary with boss burst, freeze craft slotted, pierce stone active. Before biome three: resonance live, stagger tool equipped, magnet craft for orb phase. Validate on Build Planner if any box unchecked.

Underperforming spell recovery

If DPS feels low mid-run, check tag alignment first — not spell tier. One mismatched tag delays resonance more than skipping a “low tier” spell. Temporarily prioritize tag completion upgrades over damage numbers until resonance pulses.

Build craft closing notes

Early Access rewards players who document one working resonance per element before chasing optimized tier lists. When Beijing Pacifier Technology patches stone pools or spell forks, we update Updates first — then Builds Hub child pages. Keep a ten-run log: envoy choice, third-tag timing, boss craft used, duties finished. Patterns emerge faster than copying highlight clips without context. Cross-link every run goal to Underworld Duties or How to Beat Bosses so power spikes have a purpose.
